Old Testament: Song 2.10–13
To read the Bible in a year, read Song of Solomon 1–3 on September 21, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024
By Don Ruhl
Once in a while, couples need to get away, and the Shulamite tells us that Solomon recognized that and invited her to come away with him:
My beloved spoke, and said to me:
“Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away.
For lo, the winter is past…
Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away!
– Song 2.10–13
He recognized the signs of the season and thought it was a perfect time to get away for a while.
We each get caught up in the many things that demand our attention everyday, all day long. Soon, we forget the one with whom we have created a life together.
Therefore, we have to renew our life together and just staying at home does not always cut it.
Questions:
- How does he make time together alluring?
- Why do we like to get away?
