Wanting to find brethren in a good way

New Testament: 2Co 12.20–21

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Corinthians 12 on September 21, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

Our brethren do not always live the way that they should, even as we do not always live the way that we should.

If they are people whom we have converted or worked with in some way to strengthen them, it is frustrating if they are not walking according to the truth.

Paul had that problem with the brethren in the Corinthian church: “For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults; lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced” (2 Corinthians 12.20–21).

It is not just matters of belief that we have to have in line, but it is our behavior also. Our correct beliefs will not save us, if we do not live as our Teacher Jesus Christ has instructed us to live.

Questions:

  • Does your manner of living show that Jesus is your Teacher and that someone else is?
  • What do you need to change?
