New Testament: Gal 2.17–18
To read the Bible in a year, read Galatians 2 on September 24, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024
By Don Ruhl
Peter would associate with Gentiles until Jewish disciples arrived and then he would separate himself from the Gentiles.
However, Paul rebuked the fisherman turned apostle for rebuilding what we destroy when we turn to Christ. Therefore, Paul said: “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor” Galatians 2.17–18).
We want to be justified by Christ, but if we use that to sin, that would be like making Christ a minister of sin, which is utterly contrary to what and who he is.
If I destroyed what I used to be before coming to Christ, and then sought to rebuild those things, I become a transgressor.
Questions from today’s reading and devotional:
- Have you gone back to a previous sinful life?
- If you came back, what brought you back?
