Woe to the large number of people who fight God’s people

Old Testament: Isa 17.12–14

To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 16–18 on September 29, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

By Don Ruhl

Israel may have sinned, but the nations of unbelievers often fought God’s people, forgetting that they themselves were also sinners.

Therefore, the Lord had Isaiah declare to those many peoples: “Woe to the multitude of many people who make a noise like the roar of the seas…but God will rebuke them…This is the portion of those who plunder us, and the lot of those who rob us” (Isaiah 17.12–14).

Whenever a nation attacks the people of God, whether ancient Israel or the modern church, that nation suffers.

It is better not to persecute God’s people, and even better to join them.

Questions:

  • Are you one of God’s people?
  • Have you attacked God’s people?
