Paul spoke of the Gentiles who live ungodly lives, but then he said of the Ephesian Christians: “But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus…” (Ephesians 4.20–21). 

Jesus has not taught us to live according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit, and that should show up in the spiritually clean lives that we live.
