Be the best employee you can be

New Testament: Col 3.22

To read the Bible in a year, read Colossians 3 on October 11, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

By Don Ruhl

Who should you try to please at work? Listen to what Paul said: “Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God” (Colossians 3.22).

Yes, we work to earn a paycheck. Yes, we should do what our employer wants.

However, first and foremost in everything that we do, including our employment, we are to please God.

Do what he wants you to do at work, and if you are the person that he wants you to be, your boss will notice and that will bring good things to you, but that is not really why we want to do these things.

It is that we might glorify God at work, and bring people to Christ for salvation.

Questions:

  • Are there things at work that you do not like doing?
  • If so, have you tried doing those things to please the Lord?
