Expectation of Judgment

New Testament: Hebrews 10.26-27

To read the Bible in a year, read Hebrews 10.24-39 on November 14, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

By Don Ruhl

The writer of the Book of Hebrews urged his readers not to forsake the assembly of the saints. He worked with them, showing why they should remain loyal to Jesus Christ.

He went on to warn them of the serious consequences for continuing in sin. He said: “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries” (Hebrews 10.26–27).

Friends, I do not advise anyone to be part of that! Regardless of what happens in your life, be true to Jesus even as he is true to you.

Questions from today’s reading and devotional:

  • What did the writer want them to recall of the former days?
  • What happened to anyone who rejected the Law of Moses?
