Old Testament: Ezekiel 18.30-32
To read the Bible in a year, read Ezekiel 17-19 on November 18, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

The prophets spoke many things to many people, but one way to summarize their messages is by what Ezekiel quoted of the Lord: “‘Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,’ says the Lord GOD. ‘Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,’ says the Lord GOD. ‘Therefore turn and live!’” (Ezekiel 18.30-32).
The message is: Repent! Otherwise, you will suffer.
Truly, that is the message of the New Testament as well.
Questions from today’s reading and devotional:
- Are you living a life of penitence?
- Does the Lord take pleasure in the person who dies in sin?
