Temptation

New Testament: Matt 4.1

To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 4 on January 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025

By Don Ruhl

Do I need to tell you of the strength of temptation? No, I do not think that I need to tell you. You know for yourself. However knowing of its strength, makes us wonder why God allows temptation.

We may not know all the reasons, but we know he allowed his blessed Son to be tempted: “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil” (Matthew 4.1).

And tempted he was. Yet, he survived. You can too. Live by Scripture as he did, not only quoting it as he did, but he quoted it because he believed it and lived it.

Push yourself today to believe whatever you read in the Scriptures and be ready to live whatever you read.

Questions:

  • Why do you struggle with some temptation, but not with other temptations?
  • Do you set yourself up to be tempted?
