New Testament: Matt 5.27–28
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 5.27–48 on January 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025
By Don Ruhl
Listen to Jesus carefully to hear what he said in regard to the source of sin: “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5.27–28).
Put a woman in your heart lustfully, and as far as the Lord considers it, you have committed adultery. Does this only apply to men? No, but us men have a great temptation in this regard.
Therefore, kill sin in the heart. Do not let it get started there, for it will find a way to complete itself.
Questions:
- Do you guard what goes on in your heart?
- How have you conquered sin in your heart?
