Old Testament: Exo 8.25–27
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 7–8 on January 24, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025
By Don Ruhl
After Pharaoh started experiencing the first couple of plagues, he decided that he would let Israel go, but it had to be according to the way that he wanted.
However, Moses argued that it had to be as God had said: “Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, ‘Go, sacrifice to your God in the land.’ And Moses said, ‘It is not right to do so, for we would be sacrificing the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our God. If we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, then will they not stone us? We will go three days’ journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the LORD our God as He will command us” (Exodus 8.25–27).
It took a total of ten awful, nationwide-miraculous punishments upon Egypt, before Pharaoh finally let the people go.
If you try to put conditions or modifications upon God’s commands, you will find yourself fighting against God.
Questions:
- Have you put conditions upon God’s commands?
- What is he doing to get your attention that you cannot modify what he commands?
