Old Testament: Exo 20.7
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 19–21 on January 29, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025
By Don Ruhl
Our generation really needs to hear what the Ten Commandments say about using God’s name in vain: “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain” (Exodus 20.7).
The using of God’s name in vain has proliferated to a degree today that I have never heard before. In fact, they have added a new way of referring to God that it is so vile, I just cannot mention it here, lest someone get the thought in their head.
Please think about the words that you speak, and be sure not to use the Lord’s name in vain, lest you stand guilty before the Judge of all the earth on the Judgment Day.
Questions:
- Do you struggle with controlling your speech?
- What have you done to make sure that you do not use God’s name in vain?
