Old Testament: Exo 23.13
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 22–24 on January 30, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025
By Don Ruhl
The Lord warned Israel about the false and dead gods of the Land of Canaan, wanting the people not to even mention them: “And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth” (Exodus 23.13).
Obviously, he did not mean the mere mention of their names, for the Bible often gives the names of the gods of the pagans, but he meant not to give honor to those gods. Do not give them reverence. Do not act as though they are real.
Always realize that they were just carved images; not even carved images of real things, because they were in no way real.
Questions:
- What god from the Canaanites are still worshiped today?
- What gods in your country from ages past, are still worshiped today?
