Do not let Jesus be ashamed of you

New Testament: Mark 8.38

To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 8.22–38 on March 1, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025

By Don Ruhl

In my mind, Jesus spoke frightening words when he said: “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels” (Mark 8.38).

How can we expect him to receive us joyfully, if we have been ashamed of him before the people of the world?

What a horrifying thought that he would be ashamed of us when he returns in glory, because he will not be ashamed of us before men merely, but before the Father and the angels!

Questions from today’s reading and devotional:

  • What is an angel?
  • Are you ashamed of the Lord Jesus?
