If a man knows what he is talking about, listen to him

Old Testament: 2Ki 2.15–18

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Kings 1–3 on May 11, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025

By Don Ruhl

The Lord had taken Elijah from Elisha, and the latter returned to Jericho. There were prophets in Jericho who wanted to find the body of Elijah, but Elisha said there was no need, because the Lord had taken Elijah directly into heaven without Elijah going through death.

However, the prophets went anyway, and they came back empty-handed, as, the Bible says, “Therefore they sent fifty men, and they searched for three days but did not find him. And when they came back to him, for he had stayed in Jericho, he said to them, ‘Did I not say to you, ‘Do not go’?’” (2 Kings 2.15–18).

They could have saved themselves some trouble, but sometimes we think that the one with experience does not know what he is talking about, and we find out later that he does.
