Asking about the mysteries of the Lord

New Testament: John 14.22

To read the Bible in a year, read John 14 on June 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025

How many things have you discovered in the Scriptures that puzzle you? Sometimes a little more digging in the Scriptures and prayer helps us to solve the mystery. Sometimes we never know the answer until some time later.

Jesus spoke of manifesting himself to the apostles in a way that he would not to the world. That led one of them to ask Jesus what he meant, “Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, ‘Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?’” (John 14.22).

Jesus simply answered that if anyone loves him and keeps his word, both Jesus and the Father will make their home with that person.

What does that mean? I think it means that he dwells in us. Is there more to it?

Questions:

  • What do you think Jesus meant?
  • How many disciples had the name Judas?
