New Testament: Acts 1.23
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 1 on June 15, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025
By Don Ruhl
When Judas died, they needed to replace him. Therefore, they had to find some men who were qualified, and part of the qualifications was that a man had to have followed Jesus from the time when John was baptizing to the time that Jesus ascended to heaven.
Luke wrote, “And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias” (Acts 1.23).
When you read the Gospel Accounts, you do not see those names, but there are plenty of references to the followers of Christ without naming all of them.
We do not see those two men explicitly in the crowds, but they were there, and they did not go unnoticed.
Likewise, the Lord knows who are his and he knows the work in which you engage. Keep it up.
Questions:
- Of those two men, which one did the Lord choose to be the new apostle?
- How have the lives and teachings of the apostles affected you?
