Do not trust in powerful nations

Old Testament: Jeremiah 44.30

To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 43–45 on November 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025

By Don Ruhl

Some of the Jews and their leaders who not been taken into captivity, still would not listen to the Lord. They wanted to go to Egypt out of fear of King Nebuchadnezzar, but the Lord warned them not to go there.

The Lord wanted them to know that he was going to punish Egypt: “Thus says the LORD: ‘Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies and into the hand of those who seek his life, as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, his enemy who sought his life’” (Jeremiah 44.30).

Therefore, those Jews would not gain anything by going to Egypt.

We think we know a better way to live, but we should listen to the one who created us.
