Do not change the message

Old Testament: Ezekiel 3.11

To read the Bible in a year, read Ezekiel 1–3 on November 12, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025

By Don Ruhl

When people do not like the message, it can tempt us to change it, softening it up for modern ears, but we should not ever change God’s word, but keep it the same for all people at all times, just as the Lord told Ezekiel:

And go, get to the captives, to the children of your people, and speak to them and tell them, “Thus says the Lord GOD,’ whether they hear, or whether they refuse.”

– Ezekiel 3.11

What good is a message if it changes with the whims of the people? That would mean that the message is subservient to the masses. However, the message should rule over the people.

Questions from today’s reading and devotional:

  • Whom were the living creatures carrying?
  • What was Ezekiel to eat?
