Old Testament: Joel 2.20
To read the Bible in a year, read Joel 1–3 on December 13, In the year of our Lord Christ 2025
By Don Ruhl
Joel prophesied of the Lord’s wrath on Israel, using a locust plague to picture an army of men that the Lord would send against Israel.
However, that nation would do things against Israel, but for the sins that nation had committed, the Lord would later fight against that army: “But I will remove far from you the northern army, and will drive him away into a barren and desolate land, with his face toward the eastern sea and his back toward the western sea; his stench will come up, and his foul odor will rise, because he has done monstrous things” (Joel 2.20).
Just because the Lord authorized that army to punish his people, does not mean that he authorized them to do sinful things.
If you have authority, be sure that you do not use it to sin, for if you do, the Lord will remove you.
