Where does Abraham rank among great people in the Bible and in the world? In my judgment, only the Lord Jesus ranks higher. The writer of the Book of Hebrews captured one of the traits that made Abraham great,

And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise (Hebrews 6.15).

Patience characterized the man Abraham. The Lord made a promise to Abraham and it was decades before he saw the fulfillment, but he knew the Lord would keep His word and so Abraham waited patiently. Then the Lord blessed the man greatly.
