We complain about not having things, but often we simply forget to ask. Jesus taught us to ask and we would receive, which is what Caleb’s daughter did toward him,
Now it happened, when she came to him, that she urged him to ask her father for a field. And she dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you wish?” So she said to him, “Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water.” And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs (Jdg 1.14–15).
We cannot be belligerent, and we must be thankful, but still sometimes we just have to ask, whether dealing with God or man.
This is true. He gives us whatever we ask not what we do not like.

Well, sometimes He gives what we need, although we may not like the gift. However, we often suffer lack, simply because we failed to ask.
