Do you know what Jesus did when He washed the feet of His disciples?

06.02.2014 New Testament: John 13.12

To read the Bible in a year, read John 13.1–17 on June 2, In the year of our Lord 2014

Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, and during the course of it, had a conversation with Peter about whether Jesus should wash the feet of Peter. Then John noted,

So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?” (John 13.12).

Any child could answer, saying that Jesus had just washed their feet. Therefore, we know that Jesus meant more than the action of washing feet. It is like when He spoke The Parable of the Sower. We know that He spoke more than simply the casting of seed on different soils. We know that it represented something, and we would not know what it represented, unless He had said what it represented.

The same thing happened here. Yes, He washed their feet, but say it again, “He washed their feet.” Put the emphasis upon “He” and “their.” Then you will begin to understand what He truly did.
