06.06.2014 New Testament: John 16.8–11
To read the Bible in a year, read John 16.1–15 on June 6, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
As Jesus revealed to His disciples during the night before His death, why He had to go away, He explained that His departure had to happen that He might send to them the Holy Spirit, who would work through them and convict the world of three things through their preaching,
“And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged” (John 16.8–11).
The world had to know of these things, otherwise, we could not be saved, because we would not see our need for salvation, not knowing of our sin, not knowing of Jesus and how He went to the Father, and not knowing of the judgment of the ruler of this world.
