Do you have the face of an angel?

Acts Wide

06.23.2014 New Testament: Acts 6.15

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 6 on June 23, In the year of our Lord 2014

By Don Ruhl

Stephen did miracles, but some who had not obeyed the Gospel disputed with him, although they could not resist the wisdom with which he spoke (Acts 6.8–10). Then they used false witnesses to bring up false charges against him to bring him before the Jewish Council, and as the false charges were made against him, the Bible shows this amazing picture of him,

And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel (Acts 6.15).

What did the Jews see as they looked upon the face of Stephen? Remember verse 10 spoke of the wisdom with which he spoke. Now listen to what Solomon said wisdom does to the appearance of a person,

Who is like a wise man?
And who knows the interpretation of a thing?
A man’s wisdom makes his face shine,
And the sternness of his face is changed.
(Ecclesiastes 8.1)

They saw his wisdom coming out through the look on his face and that looked resembled the look of an angel.
