We just have to accept the will of the Lord

Acts Wide

07.19.2014 New Testament: Acts 21.14

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 21.1–14 on July 19,  In the year of our Lord 2014

By Don Ruhl

The Holy Spirit prophesied that if Paul went to Jerusalem, the Jews would bind him and hand him over to the Gentiles, the Romans. Therefore, all his friends sought to persuade him not to go to Jerusalem, but they thought as we often do; avoid suffering and persecution for the Lord at all costs. However, Paul thought as we should think, and said that he was ready both to be bound and to die at Jerusalem for Jesus.

Paul’s friends soon realized that they could not keep him from going to Jerusalem,

So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done” (Acts 21.14).

It did not matter what Paul’s friends wanted; it mattered what the Lord wanted, and so should it be in our lives, whether concerning us or our friends.
