The word will spread, if you write it

Jeremiah Bible Background

11.03.2014 Old Testament: Jer 36.14–19

To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 36–37 on November 3, In the year of our Lord 2014

In private, the Lord had Jeremiah dictate to Baruch what we call the Book of Jeremiah, at least the first thirty-five chapters. Then Baruch was to go and read the scroll in public. Then this happened,

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the scroll from which you have read in the hearing of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and came to them. And they said to him, “Sit down now, and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing. Now it happened, when they had heard all the words, that they looked in fear from one to another, and said to Baruch, “We will surely tell the king of all these words.” And they asked Baruch, saying, “Tell us now, how did you write all these words—at his instruction?” So Baruch answered them, “He proclaimed with his mouth all these words to me, and I wrote them with ink in the book.” Then the princes said to Baruch, “Go and hide, you and Jeremiah; and let no one know where you are” (Jeremiah 36.14–19).

The princes wanted to know how Baruch got this information from Jeremiah, and Baruch declared the simple process. Here is the thing, the Lord told Jeremiah what to do. Jeremiah did it. And from there it spread. Wait until you see what happened in the rest of the chapter, and what the Lord did about it.

Read God’s word and show it to others. It will spread.
