If you are cheerful, do not hold it in, but let it come out. One way you can do that is through singing,

Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms (James 5.13). 

Are you embarrassed for anyone to hear you? Then sing privately. Do it all the time. Let your spirit go. Praise the Lord and see what happens.
