The opening of the gate on the Sabbath

Ezekiel Bible Background

12.01.2014 Old Testament: Eze 46.1

To read the Bible in a year, read Ezekiel 45–46 on December 1, In the year of our Lord 2014

By Don Ruhl

The Lord wanted the prince of Israel and the people of Israel to worship on the Sabbath, therefore, the gate would be open that day, and on New Moons, but it would be closed on other days,

“Thus says the Lord God: ‘The gateway of the inner court that faces toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the Sabbath it shall be opened, and on the day of the New Moon it shall be opened’” (Ezekiel 46.1).

This is what He wanted Israel to do, as explained in the Ten Commandments, that they should observe the Sabbath and worship on that day, because the Lord had delivered them from Egypt.
