We try our best to show kindness, but sometimes people will run rough shod over us anyway. How shall we handle ourselves when that happens? Jesus taught,

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10.16). 

First, be aware that not everyone will act as you do. You act kind and gentle, but they will devour you.

Second, use wisdom, but not to harm others.
