Go and do something

Matthew Bible Background

02.08.2015 New Testament: Matt 25.16–17

To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 25.1–30 on February 8, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

Jesus told of a man who had servants, and to each one the man gave the amount of money that he thought the servant could handle, that is, what he thought that servant could do with what was given to him, knowing that they all had different abilities. Jesus continued with His story,

“Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also” (Matthew 25.16–17).

They “went and traded,” rather than just sitting down and eyeing what they had received. They did something with what they had.

  1. There is a time to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, and there is a time to use what we have been given. If we desire to do what the Lord wants, and if we have sought His leadership in life, then whatever movement in which we engage shall be the opportunities He has placed before us.
