The confession of unclean spirits

Matthew Bible Background

02.19.2015 New Testament: Mark 3.11–12

To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 3.1–21 on February 19, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

Unclean spirits inhabit the world of the spirit. Therefore, they know the true identity of Jesus of Nazareth,

And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried out, saying, “You are the Son of God.” But He sternly warned them that they should not make Him known (Mark 3.11–12).

They had seen Jesus on the throne. They knew who He was. Why then did He warn them sternly not to make Him known? They are not the best of witnesses, yet, they spoke the truth. Therefore, Mark included their confession.

What do you believe about Jesus?
