03.30.2015 Old Testament: Jdg 1.16
To read the Bible in a year, read Judges 1–2 on March 30, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
Israel of old was not about the flesh, but the spirit, shown by the fact that they incorporated new people,
Now the children of the Kenite, Moses’ father-in-law, went up from the City of Palms with the children of Judah into the Wilderness of Judah, which lies in the South near Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people (Judges 1.16).
Since the Kenites had befriended the children of Israel, that made the Kenites enemies of Israel’s enemies. Therefore, they were safer with the children of Israel.
If Israel had been about nothing more than the flesh, they would not have taken in the Kenites, but obviously they accepted faith in Jehovah God, and so He and His people accepted the Kenites.
