To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 59–61 on July 30, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

Listen to what David called the Lord when David’s enemies pursued him, intending to kill him,

But I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises;
For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.
(Psalm 59.16–17)

Enemies sought David, but he knew the Lord helped and defeated his enemies. Therefore, David praised the Lord, speaking primarily of the Lord’s power, mercy, and defense, leading David to refer to the Lord as, “My Strength.”

What has the Lord been to you? Refer to Him in that way.
