The price of not trusting God

Psalms Bible Background

08.06.2015 Old Testament: Psa 78.21–22

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalm 78 on August 6, In the year of our Lord 2015

Most people treat believing in God as a harmless option, that if you reject believing in Him, you will not be called to account for it. However, He who created the world and gives us what we need, does not take distrust lightly. When the children of Israel challenged God to provide food, believing that providing water for them was not enough evidence for them to trust Him, the Bible says,

Therefore the Lord heard this and was furious;
So a fire was kindled against Jacob,
And anger also came up against Israel,
Because they did not believe in God,
And did not trust in His salvation.
(Psalm 78.21–22)

He provides the world with more than we need, but still people doubt Him, calling into question whether He even exists. Israel paid dearly for their unbelief and so will any nation or person today.
