08.08.2015 Old Testament: Psa 84.10–11
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 82–84 on August 8, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
If you had the choice of living well among the wicked or of living with God, but only as a doorkeeper, which would you choose? We know what the sons of Korah would answer and why they gave that answer,
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
(Psalm 84.10–11)
The sons of Korah who wrote Psalm 84, would rather dwell with God than with the wicked, even if it meant to sacrifice an honored position and to become a doorkeeper. Why would they make that choice? They would choose God because He is a sun and shield to His people, and He gives them grace and glory, not withholding any good thing from them.
