When something becomes unclean

Romans Bible Background

08.15.2015 New Testament: Rom 14.14

To read the Bible in a year, read Romans 14 on August 15, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

In the beginning the Lord made everything on the Earth good, and good for man, but during the times of the Law of Moses, the Lord did not allow the Israelites to eat certain foods. Now, however, He has reopened the door for anyone, including Jews, to eat whatever they desire, although no one has to eat everything. Paul said,

I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean (Romans 14.14).

If you believe that you should not eat pork, then do not eat pork, or whatever it might be. The Lord has not commanded us to eat certain foods. He wants us to live by faith, and not believe that eating or abstaining from certain foods makes us more spiritual.
