08.16.2015 Old Testament: Psa 105.23–25
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 105–106 on August 16, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
Israel suffered as slaves to the powerful Egyptians, a world power, nevertheless, Israel belonged to God and He made a promise to Abraham that his descendants would inherit the Land of Canaan. Therefore, listen to what the psalmist said,
Israel also came into Egypt,
And Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham.
He increased His people greatly,
And made them stronger than their enemies.
He turned their heart to hate His people,
To deal craftily with His servants.
(Psalm 105.23–25)
Although weak and weaponless, the Israelites somehow managed to escape Egypt, despoiling the Egyptians in the process. As the psalmist declared, it happened because He, the Lord, worked.
Serve the Lord with all your heart, and He will make you stronger than your enemies.
