09.08.2015 Old Testament: Pro 13.8
To read the Bible in a year, read Proverbs 13–14 on September 8, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
The Lord blesses us with wealth, but if we make wealth our Lord, we have set ourselves up for a dangerous situation,
The ransom of a man’s life is his riches,
But the poor does not hear rebuke.
(Proverbs 13.8)
Kidnappers go after the wealthy, because the kidnappers believe they can get something from the rich man. How often do you hear of bad guys kidnapping the poor and demanding a ransom? I suppose it has happened before, but it is not typical.
Be sure that you see wealth as a blessing from the Lord, which can be taken away by man or the circumstances of life, or replaced by the Lord, but wealth is a poor master.
