Why the Lord put certain commands in His word

2 Corinthians Bible Background

09.10.2015 New Testament: 2Co 2.9

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Corinthians 2 on September 10, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

Have you questioned why this command or that one exist? Why does the Lord want you to do such and such, and not do something else? Consider this,

For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things (2 Corinthians 2.9).

We think it is about the commands and whether a good reason exists for obeying those commands, but the Lord says He want to see whether we will obey Him. It is about our relationship with Him, not the command.

We want a good reason to obey the command, but He asks, Am I not reason enough? Do we trust our wisdom to decide what is best for us or do we trust His wisdom to give us the right commands for life?
