Going to the worship/edification assembly, or “going to church,” should not be a thoughtless endeavor, but think on why you go there and when you get there, think on what you are doing,

Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil (Ecclesiastes 5.1).

Fools give sacrifices and make vows to God without thinking of what they have just done. Therefore, walk prudently, walk wisely, that you might realize what you are doing.

For example, you may not realize it, but you make vows and promises to God while you attend every worship service. How is that, you wonder? Next time you assemble, think about the words you speak in a song or to which you say Amen at the closing of a prayer. Are you doing what you have promised God that you will do?
