09.25.2015 Old Testament: Isa 5.8–10
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 4–6 on September 25, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
If we walk in the footsteps of Jesus, He may prosper us materialistically. If He does, how shall we let that prosperity affect us? The children of Israel let it consume them, as they sought to gain in everyday possible,
Woe to those who join house to house;
They add field to field,
Till there is no place
Where they may dwell alone in the midst of the land!
In my hearing the Lord of hosts said,
“Truly, many houses shall be desolate,
Great and beautiful ones, without inhabitant.
For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath,
And a homer of seed shall yield one ephah.”
They built homes as close to one another as they could because they could make a lot of money that way. However, the One who made them prosperous would soon make them desolate, if they did not repent.
