The angels worship Jesus

Hebrews Bible Background

11.04.2015 New Testament: Heb 1.6-7

To read the Bible in a year, read Hebrews 1 on November 4, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

Hebrews 1 shows that Jesus is above the angels. He is not an angel, not even Michael the archangel, as the so-called Jehovah’s Witnesses allege. To show that He is not an angel, but that the angels worship him, the writer of Hebrews wrote,

But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says:

“Let all the angels of God worship Him.”
(Hebrews 1.6)

The angels are mere created beings. Therefore, no one worships them, but they serve in the same capacity that we do, as servants of God, as the writer continued,

And of the angels He says:

“Who makes His angels spirits
And His ministers a flame of fire.”
(Hebrews 1.7)

They are ministers because they serve Him who made them, and their Creator is our Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ.
