Do not fear

Jeremiah Bible Background

By Don Ruhl

Over four dozen times in the Scriptures, the Lord tells us not to fear. Obviously He knows we have a propensity toward fearing man or fearing our circumstances, but He reassures us that He is running the show. He told Israel long ago,

“But do not fear, O My servant Jacob,
And do not be dismayed, O Israel!
For behold, I will save you from afar,
And your offspring from the land of their captivity;
Jacob shall return, have rest and be at ease;
No one shall make him afraid.”
(Jeremiah 46.27)

Do not look at the world, or the waves, so to speak, as Peter did when he began to walk on the water and began to sink, but look to the Lord. Regardless of what happens in your life, do not take your eyes off Him. He will carry you through the storm.
