People will persecute you for what you believe, but if you engage in good works zealously, those people will find it more difficult to criticize you. However, if they still do, remember what Peter said,
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed (1 Peter 3.15–16).
Put the Lord God at the center of your heart and always be alert, because people will ask you questions or challenge your faith at the most inopportune time. Be sure to have a gentle heart, having fear, and making sure that you live with a good conscience. People will notice all those things in you.
