What is man? We may have been created in the image of God, but when we sin we make ourselves into the image of worms. However, the Lord came to save us from our sin, making us holy again, so much so that He will actually allow His us to judge,

So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel” (Matthew 19.28). 

Also, in First Corinthians 6, Paul revealed that the saints shall judge angels! Why would the Lord allow us to do such a thing? Why does He love us so?
