02.12.2016 New Testament: Matt 26.67–68
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 26.55–75 on February 12, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Once the Jews decided that Jesus deserved death, they treated Him in the most shameful ways,
Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands, saying, “Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?” (Matthew 26.67–68).
They spit in the face of God’s Son! They beat the Anointed One! They slapped their Creator! From the other Gospel Accounts we know that they covered His face, and then hit Him, asking Him who struck Him, because if He was the Christ, He would know who hit Him, even if He could not see who did it.
Words fail me to picture what they did to Him. What will they think when they see Him on His Judgment Seat?
