Levi (We know him as Matthew), knew of Jesus, having heard Him preach and teach, and having witnessed miracles of the Lord. Therefore, when Jesus invited Levi to follow, Levi did it,

As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him. Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him (Mark 2.14–15).

Levi followed Jesus in the ministry of preaching and teaching, and in turn Jesus followed Levi to his home to receive his hospitality.

Follow Jesus and He will be with you, and you never know what may happen.
