02.28.2016 Old Testament: Num 21.16–20
To read the Bible in a year, read Numbers 21–22 on February 28, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
“They” say seven billion people live on the Earth now! The vast majority of them have the food and water that they need, and for the rest who do not, the Lord expects us to take care of them. How much food and water does the population of the Earth consume in just one day? It staggers the mind just to contemplate it. However, if the Lord can take care of all those people, He certainly could take care of Israel in the wilderness,
From there they went to Beer, which is the well where the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.” Then Israel sang this song:
“Spring up, O well!
All of you sing to it—
The well the leaders sank,
Dug by the nation’s nobles,
By the lawgiver, with their staves.”
And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah, from Mattanah to Nahaliel, from Nahaliel to Bamoth, and from Bamoth, in the valley that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah which looks down on the wasteland (Numbers 21.16–20).
This passage records the movement of the children of Israel to four places, and they even dug a well, because 3 to 3.5 million people need plenty of water everyday. Yet, the Lord directed them through the wilderness to a source of water, but He did not dig the well for them, they could do it and He let them do it.
Questions:
- Do you see how you and the Lord work together?
- Do you see how He leaves jobs for you to do, because you can do them?
- Can you see the Lord’s daily providence in your life?

Good. I thought that rather than me just giving my thoughts, this would be a way to encourage people to think on their own for the rest of the day.

Well, you know I already think on my own and on the behalf of others. It’s a gift. 🙂
