03.01.2016 Old Testament: Num 27.12–14
To read the Bible in a year, read Numbers 26–27 on March 1, In the year of our Lord 2016

The Lord told Moses to do one thing and he did another. For that, he could not enter the promised land, the Land of Canaan. Moses had always lived so close to it, first in Egypt, then in Midian, and finally as he traveled with Israel in the wilderness. Yet, this man who spoke with God as a friend speaks with his friend, could not enter the promised land because he tried one time to do something his way, and found himself momentarily in rebellion against God,
Now the LORD said to Moses: “Go up into this Mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel. And when you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered. For in the Wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, you rebelled against My command to hallow Me at the waters before their eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah, at Kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin.) (Numbers 27.12–14).
Nevertheless, Moses still entered the presence of God in heaven itself! Sin may keep us from something on the Earth, but if we seek God, as Moses always did, He will forgive us of our sins, and we shall enter the true promised land.
- Do you see the destructive power of sin?
- Have you sought forgiveness for all your sins?
